There are many things to consider when choosing the right sleeping bag for your outdoor adventures.  You must consider the comfort rating, down or synthetic fill, weight, shape, compacted size and your sleeping tendencies.  (See how to choose the right sleeping bag)  Most bags will have what they call a comfort rating.  This rating lets you know what temperatures your bag will stand up to and breaks them up into different categories.  For example, a summer season bag would be good for temperatures above 35°F and a winter bag would be good for temperatures of -10°F or colder.  It is recommended to get a bag that exceeds the lowest temperature you may encounter to make sure you don't get cold and when it gets warm you can unzip a portion of the bag near the legs to keep you cooler.
